Park Place Dealerships Recognized for Outstanding Operations and Service

2019 was quite the year across Park Place’s Dallas-Fort Worth Locations. Congratulations to all of our teams for these awards:

Park Place Motorcars

Park Place Motorcars Dallas has won the Mercedes-Benz 2019 “Best of the Best” Gold Laurel award, representing the pinnacle of achievement and the absolute best of what the Mercedes-Benz brand has to offer. This is the 13th win for Dallas. Only 52 Mercedes-Benz dealerships out of 384 nationwide received this prestigious distinction.

“All of our dealerships are dedicated to creating exceptional client experiences each and every day,” said Park Place Dealerships CEO Neil Grossman. “It’s especially rewarding when that hard work is recognized nationally bu the luxury brands we represent.”

Park Place Motorcars Grapevine and Park Place Motorcars Fort Worth both won the Mercedes-Benz 2019 “Best of the Best” Silver Laurel award, which acknowledges dealers for their outstanding achievements throughout the year. Only 88 dealers out of the 384 Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationwide have earned this lofty designation. This is the fifth win for Grapevine and the ninth for Fort Worth.

Both Park Place Motorcars Dallas and Fort Worth dealerships also won the 2019 “Mercedes Benz Financial Valued Partner Award,” the equivalent of “Best of the Best” for Finance.

Park Place BodyWerks

Park Place BodyWerks Grapevine won the 2019 Lexus Collision Center of the Year designation,” added Grossman. “They are the first such facility to ever win the award back-to-back. They also won the award in 2018.”

Park Place Jaguar Land Rover

Park Place Jaguar Land Rover DFW received two of the highest honors a Jaguar Land Rover dealership can receive: the 2019 “Pride of Jaguar” award and the Land Rover “Pinnacle” award. Both awards are notable for their exclusive designations as “Lyons Elite” and “Wilks Elite,” signifying sales and service leadership in the “Largest Dealer” category. This is Jaguar Land Rover DFW’s ninth “Pride” award and first “Pinnacle” award. JLR North America CEO Joe Eberhardt personally congratulated the dealership on their outstanding achievement.

In addition, Park Place Lexus Plano and Park Place Lexus Grapevine both won the 2019 “Elite of Lexus” award, given to a very select group of dealerships based on customer ratings and a rigorous series of operational and certification requirements. Plano has earned this prestigious award 26 times, while Grapevine has won 19 times.

Bentley Dallas

Last, but certainly not least, Park Place Premier Collection’s Bentley Dallas was named number one for sales in the Central Region in 2019.

“Park Place is proud of our members for their pursuit of excellence in every area of our operation,” concluded Grossman. “The recognition when the pinnacle of success in such a competitive industry is rewarding. But, more importantly, the dedication to customer service is what makes our clients refer to Park Place as ‘My Place.’”

Founded in 1987, Park Place operates 17 full-service dealerships representing luxury brands Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, McLaren, and Maserati. For more info, visit

Bentley and Boas – Park Place Premier Collection’s Dynamic Duo

Bentley Dallas’ Adriana Boas uses her diverse skill set to deliver client experiences second-to-none, and all for one of the world’s most prestigious automotive brands.  This is her story (or at least part of it).

Adriana Boas is currently a Sales Experience Manager at Bentley Dallas. She’s also a factoid fiend who can rattle off all sorts of stats – the number of hides required to complete a Bentayga’s interior (14), engine torque stats from the vehicle’s W-12 engine (664 lb-ft), and off-road lateral and longitudinal angle tolerances (up to 35 dizzying degrees)- which is important when selling such an intricately engineered and beautifully designed auto.

Her gift for assured delivery speaks to her journalism training at the Methodist University of Sao Paulo and her subsequent 14-year career as an on-air anchor and personality at ESPN Brasil, Rede Familia, SBT Campinas, TV Seculo XII, and Radio Bandeirantes.

She and her kids moved to northern California in 2005 where she practiced journalism until 2008, ultimately opting to join the retail couture industry in swanky Aptos and Los Gatos.

And that’s when things really changed.

As Adriana explains: “A client of three years’ standing handed me a business card and said, ‘If you would like to change your life, call me.’ The card featured the Bentley logo and it took me six months to work up the courage to call. And even though I didn’t know a thing about cars, I called and after a lengthy interview process, I was hired to sell Bentley products. And my client was absolutely right – everything changed.”

Two years later, in 2017, she joined the Park Place team, where her sales acumen and storytelling skills remain on full display- in-person and online through her social media channels. With her client’s permission, you’ll get a front seat view as she walks her clients around their new car, captures their first reactions, and brings you along for a very thorough tour of all the features and settings of the specification of the day.  It’s not just for fun though, it’s an intentional way to make authentic connections and share real stories.

Family First

Her sons are grown now and out of the house – Lucas is a musician in San Francisco and Gabriel is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker. “When they come to visit, it’s pretty much ‘Hi mom, bye mom,’” she laughs with a what-can-you-do shrug.

And while she admits missing them, all that empty-nest freedom allows her to indulge her passion for the arts. “I’m an old soul,” she confesses. “One of my favorite novels is the Italian murder mystery, “Name of the Rose” by Umberto Eco. And I love movies, especially anything with Fred Astaire or Alain Delon. Sean Connery too – he’s still the best James Bond!”

Fine Cars and Fine Dining

Her other passions include traveling (inherited from her father) and fine cuisine, as in Michelin-level fine dining experiences.

Case in point: while in Los Gatos, she treated herself to dinner at Manresa and also plans to go to what is considered America’s finest dining experience – Chicago’s Alinea. (Both Manresa and Alinea have earned Michelin’s coveted three stars, among just 14 such establishments in the country.)

Adriana also has high expectations of Dallas’ venerable French Room, thanks to new executive chef Diego Fernandez, who, not coincidentally, hails from Alinea. “I really believe he’ll elevate the French Room to an entirely new level while keeping everything that makes it so very, very special. I can’t wait!”

So how does Adriana (who is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish as well as English) define success? “You have to stay active, stay involved. You have to brand yourself both personally and professionally. I’m always going to events and popups. People need to see you outside of this work world and then you can connect on an authentic level and earn trust at every level.”

Visit Adriana and the Bentley Dallas team at 5300 Lemmon Avenue if you are interested in starting on or continuing a world-class ownership experience. Let’s help make Park Place, #YourParkPlace in 2020.

Game Day at the Park Place Auto Auction

An up-close-and-personal look at Park Place’s Auto Auction for area authorized dealers.

It’s 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at Park Place Auto Auction in Plano, and the non-stop auctioneer chatter over the booming loudspeakers is silent now. The twin driveways are devoid of vehicles, while administrators inside the facility quietly wrap up the mounds of paperwork required to transfer ownership of nearly 200 vehicles.

But a mere two hours prior, the place was a buzzing beehive. Sedans, coupes, convertibles, SUVs, crossovers, pickups, minivans, sportscars and other vehicles of every make and manufacture creep slowly yet continuously along parallel driveways while about 200 potential buyers – independent and franchise dealers alike – raise a hand or give a nod and a wink to convey their bids. The din from fast-talking, sharp-eyed auctioneers is loud and urgent. Enormous wall-mounted monitors display a dizzying blur of vehicles and ever-rising numbers for all to see.

“The whole process is actually well under control,” says Kenny Parmentier, Operations Manager of Park Place Auto Auction. “But to outsiders, it tends to look like complete mayhem,” he adds with a chuckle.

Where Did It All Start?

The idea for getting into the auction business came from Park Place President Jordan Case, who wanted to create a clean, comfortable and well-kept environment where authorized dealers could find an extensive selection of both high-performance luxury cars and top-quality vehicles of all kinds, and engage in an efficient, hassle-free purchasing experience. In short, he wanted the auction business to function with the commitment to excellence that makes Park Place, well, Park Place.

More often than not, he’s on hand to savor the experience, which kicks off every Wednesday at 2 p.m. sharp. From that point, a vehicle is sold every 38 seconds. In the next 90 minutes, about 195 out of about 200 vehicles will have changed hands. And then it’s all over. Until next week, when it all starts again.

Where Do the Cars Come From?

Most of the vehicles come from Park Place pre-owned lots where they’ve been for 65 days, the result of trade-ins on something newer and shinier. Or they’re front-line vehicles that are getting long in the tooth as a new model year looms. The auction gives them all a chance to find new homes – and Park Place more room for more desirable pre-owned vehicles that will hopefully turn faster.

Celebrating its two-year anniversary in February, the Park Place Auto Auction business is run in partnership with America’s Auto Auction, a full-service company catering to dealers in 23 locations across 15 states. They handle all the day-to-day activity – checking vehicles in, taking pictures, and handling collections, payments, and titles.

Parmentier works for them, as does his five-member team.

“We’re running at a 95 percent success rate,” he says. “Once a vehicle is sold, the buyer has 48 hours to complete the sale and move the vehicle off the lot. It’s a fast-paced business and really quite exciting. It’s game day!”

In 2019, the business sold 8,647 vehicles or about 720 a month. Those that don’t sell one week – called “reruns” – go through the line again a week later for another shot at success, and are usually snapped up by eagle-eyed bargain hunters.

That certainly wasn’t the case when a 2019 Rolls-Royce and a 2018 McLaren came down the line.

“We don’t get those rarities all that often,” Parmentier grins, “but when we do, they’re show-stoppers!”

Stetson and Bentley Combine Legacies for a Big-as-Texas Special Edition

Say Howdy to the Bentley Bentayga Stetson Special Edition, featured at the 2019 Park Place Luxury & Supercar Showcase New Car Concours and available for commissioning exclusively at Bentley Dallas.

Some things just go better together: popcorn and movies, pencils and erasers, coffee and cream. But somebody had to think of them first, right?

That’s certainly the case with the Bentley Stetson, a special edition British ultra-luxury SUV outfitted in Stetson-branded style.

“It’s an idea that’s been in the works for two-and-a-half years,” says Simon Crossley Sales Experience Manager with Bentley Dallas, the only retailer in the world to offer the marvelous mash-up (part of the Premier Collection under the Park Place dealership umbrella.) “Bringing together these two legendary brands, both known for the ultimate in craftsmanship and style, just seemed like the right thing to do.”

Shared Heritage of Excellence

Bentley Dallas and Stetson revealed the car at a special media event on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Stetson’s home at Hatco Inc, in Garland, Texas.

Before revealing the Bentayga, both Crossley and Andrea Bozeman, Stetson’s senior vice president of marketing, paid homage to the proud heritage of both companies.

“In July, Bentley Motors celebrated 100 years of thrilling automotive performance and reflected on the words of founder W.O. Bentley: Build a fast car, a good car, the best in its class,” said Crossley. He also noted that Bentley won the 24-hours of Le Mans six times.

“Stetson has been an iconic brand since 1865,” added Bozeman, “Lyndon Johnson, Hank Williams, Buffalo Bill Cody, Calamity Jane and Will Rogers, as well as senators, movie stars and urban cowboys all over the world, love the brand.”

With that, the car was revealed: clad in a “White Sand” exterior matching Stetson’s famed “Silverbelly” color, the paint is almost opalescent in the bright sunlight (two other colors, onyx and a dark leather brown, are in the works).

A Peek Inside

But that’s just the start. The interior shows off the Bentayga Stetson Special Edition to best advantage. Taking cues from timeless cowboy boot and saddle designs, the sumptuously rich camel and dark brown leather interior features boot-stitching throughout, including embroidered Stetson logos in saddle thread on each headrest. Tread-plate inserts carved with “Mulliner Stetson” designate each vehicle as a “Special Edition.”

One would naturally expect fine wood in such a special vehicle, and one wouldn’t be disappointed – the open-pore liquid amber veneers derive from American Red Gum (aka Sweetgum) trees.

The whole effect is powerful and impressive, yet in true Bentley fashion, subtle and understated, too. “We didn’t want to overcook it,” said Crossley.

Nevertheless, it’s fun to imagine that Minnie Pearl would be all “How-DEE,” luxuriating in the enormous back seat, as Patsy Cline’s “Crazy” blasts over the most powerful audio system available in an SUV anywhere – 1,920-watts, 21-channels by Naim.

And wherever she’d be going, she’d get there quickly – the Bentayga’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 generates 542 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque, with a Porsche-like 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. (For those with horses, the Bentayga will tow 7,700 pounds with ease.)

Hi-yo Silver, indeed.

Quality Throughout

All the customization was undertaken at Bentley’s factory in Crewe, England, by Mulliner, the manufacturer’s customization and personalization subsidiary, which traces its coachbuilding prowess to the 17th century.

Bentley is, of course, renowned for the quality of their leather – 14 of the world’s most flawless hides go into each Bentayga. Every leather panel is initialed on the reverse by the upholsterer – a personal hallmark of quality.

Stetson has long been recognized for using only the highest quality materials, as well as painstakingly crafting each design on specialized vintage equipment, then finishing each and every hat by hand.

“It takes 200 people to build a Bentayga and 200 hands to make a Stetson. That’s kind of cool,” Crossley says with a touch of wonder.

“It’s really a great combination,” he continues. “The Stetson Limited Edition combines the best of Old-World craftsmanship and Old West iconography to create a completely modern, instantly distinctive and memorable motoring experience.”

This special edition vehicle is offered at $246,578. Two more will be delivered to Bentley Dallas, one in October and the next in November (in the aforesaid onyx and brown exterior colors).

“Or you can order your own personalized version,” smiles Crossley.

Bentley Dallas and Stetson Reveal Special Edition Bentayga

Two iconic brands combine old-world craftsmanship to introduce a new luxury product which arrived in Texas earlier this week. Introducing the world’s first Bentley Bentayga Special Edition- exclusively commissioned at Bentley Dallas.

Style, tradition, and innovation come together in a spectacular blend of two icons. Bentley Dallas and Stetson are combining their powerful legacies to create a timeless vehicle for discerning clients: the Bentayga Stetson Special Edition.

“This partnership speaks to the timelessness of these two famous brands,” says Ken Schnitzer, Chairman of Park Place Dealerships.  “The Bentayga’s rugged luxury is a tailor-made match for Stetson’s unsurpassed quality. The Bentayga Stetson Special Edition combines the best of old-world craftsmanship with American history to create a distinctive and memorable motoring experience.”

The Bentayga Stetson Special Edition vehicles are exclusively offered by Bentley Dallas with the first car delivered this week to Texas, the heart of modern cowboy culture.

“Stetson is thrilled to be partnering with Bentley Dallas on the Bentayga Stetson Special Edition. For over 150 years, the Stetson name has stood for quality, authenticity, craftsmanship and a refusal to compromise on details,” says Xiao Li Tan, President of Stetson Worldwide. “The collaboration between Stetson and Bentley combines two legendary heritage names to deliver an unparalleled experience for Western enthusiasts.”

Customize with Mulliner

Clients can customize their Bentayga Stetson Special Edition vehicle through Bentley’s personalized Mulliner team with an unlimited array of options.

Each vehicle’s exterior features a distinctive Stetson badge. Clients can choose from three special colors:

  • White Sand, to match the “Silverbelly,” color made famous by U.S. Presidents, artists, and musicians. The Stetson Open Road has also been worn by Churchill, Bob Dylan and hundreds of other culture setters
  • Dark Cashmere to match the Stetson Boss of the Plains hat, the first Stetson ever sold
  • Onyx, embodying the classic Stetson black 100X El Presidente hat

Rich Leather and a Duotone Steering Wheel

Rich interior leather hides are chosen carefully and crafted with precision for each vehicle. The Bentayga Stetson Special Edition will offer interior colors of a camel main hide, saddle secondary hide, and burnt oak accents. The duotone steering wheel will feature a burnt oak center, a saddle-leather outer and chrome elements.

The Stetson logo is embroidered in each headrest in saddle thread to complement the open pore liquid amber veneer, which derives from the American Red Gum trees grown in the United States.

Boot Stitching

Taking cues from cowboy boots and saddles, the Bentayga Stetson Special Edition will feature “boot stitching” throughout the vehicle to create a Bespoke Bentayga that embodies the style of the Stetson brand. Treadplate inserts carved with “MULLINER STETSON” mark each vehicle as a special edition.

Mulliner, the Bespoke workshop within Bentley that can make a client’s dream come to life, has beautifully merged the culture of Stetson with the sophisticated design of Bentley to deliver luxury on a new level as never before seen.

Bentley’s 100 Years and Stetson’s Legacy

This year, Bentley Motors celebrates 100 years of automotive performance, reflecting on the inspiration of founder W.O. Bentley: “Build a fast car, a good car, the best in its class.” Bentley won the 24-hours of Le Mans six times. Today, every car is hand-made at their factory in Crewe (in the northwest of England), by a team of highly-skilled artisans.

Stetson, an iconic American brand since 1865, has been the headwear of choice for presidents and patriots, artists and musicians, mavericks and historical figures from all around the world. Worn by culture setters from Buffalo Bill Cody to Ronald Reagan to Waylon Jennings, Stetson is forever woven into the fabric of America.

Bentley Dallas Celebrates Centenary of Iconic Brand

Bentley Dallas put on the party of the century July 10th in honor of Bentley Motors’ Centenary.

“The policy was simple,” W.O. Bentley said when he founded his namesake motor company July 10, 1919. “We were going to make a fast car, a good car, the best in its class.”

True to its founding principles, Bentley continues to make fast cars with an emphasis on comfort and luxury.  And they are arguably the best in their class.

In celebration of Bentley’s Centenary, Bentley Dallas hosted a cocktail reception featuring a new 2020 Bentley Continental GTC convertible displayed next to an exquisite 1937 Bentley Sports Tourer by Vanden Plas in their Lemmon Avenue showroom.

Powered by its original 4.25 Liter engine, the ’37 Bentley with serial number B1KU was exported to the US in the late 1950s. While it still includes the initial body with matching numbers on the original parts, it’s not just a showpiece. The engine still purrs like a kitten. The rolling work of art will be offered at Gooding & Company’s Pebble Beach sale August 16-17.

Guest were serenaded by Armenian singer Goga and his trio, which played everything from pop music to opera. Bachendorf’s displayed a limited-edition Breitling timepiece among other beautiful pieces. Guests enjoyed a celebratory toast with Champagne Palmer and delicious canapés by Dallas Fish Market and Dallas Chop House.  A “100 Extraordinary Years” cake also marked the notable anniversary.

The old English company, now part of the Volkswagen Group, began celebrating its 100th anniversary earlier this year with the showing in Paris of its 2020 Bentley Continental GT convertible.

The 2020 Bentley Continental GT is a $225,000 coupe propelled effortlessly by a 6-liter 12-cylinder engine with 626 horsepower. With all-wheel-drive and a well-developed suspension, it can conquer mountain curves or devour autobahns with its 207-mph top-speed – yet it’s still capable of getting 24 mpg on the highway.

The new Continental will also be available in a convertible (GTC) as well as a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 version.

The impressive Continentals join the popular Bentayga SUV as well as the Flying Spur and Mulsanne sedans in Bentley’s current offering of vehicles.

Bentley Dallas is part of the Park Place Premier Collection on Lemmon Avenue.

Bentley Continental GT Sets New Record at Pikes Peak

As Bentley celebrates its 100th anniversary this July, a record setting model enjoys a grand time on the track. The Bentley Continental GT established itself as the fastest Grand Tourer vehicles ever produced after claiming the record for production car at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The Continental GT surpassed the Pikes Peak record by 8 seconds at the Colorado course on June 30, 2019.

The 12-cylinder engine Continental GT was driven by the three-time champion, Rhys Millen from New Zealand. Millen dominated the 12.42 mile course in just 10:18:488 while averaging an amazing 70 mph.

A camera mounted to Millen’s helmet recorded footage of the record setting pace. You can ride along with the former “King of the Mountain” driver during the historic ride here.

Millen also credited the Grand Tourer’s ability during the challenging trek.

“This is an amazing finish to a wet, snowy 2019 run at Pikes Peak,” exclaimed Millen. “We came here with one goal in mind, and that was to be the fastest production car up the mountain and set a new record. It was an incredible week. Today was a challenge with what Mother Nature threw at us, but the Continental GT held strong all the way to the top, and we are now Number One.”

Only 12 months ago, the Bentley Bentayga secured the outright record for production SUV on the same Colorado course. The Bentayga, also driven by Millen last year, navigated the course SUV-record time of 10:49:9, eclipsing the previous high time by nearly two minutes. For a second consecutive year, a Bentley model has dominated the Pikes Peak course.

“This new record once again proves that the spirit of endeavor and desire to push the boundaries of automotive performance remain at the beating heart of Bentley,” said Brian Gush, Bentley’s Director of Motorsport. “It clearly demonstrates the Continental GT’s astonishing breadth of ability.”

The peak of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb started at 9,300 feet and escalated to 14,100 feet. Bentley celebrates its Centennial anniversary on July 10, 2019 by remembering historic feats and highlighting future innovations. Expect more historic climbs for one of the most luxurious brands as they look to set more record paces within the industry.

Bentley Organizes 30 Car Concours at Goodwood Festival of Speed

It’s been a year of celebration for Bentley Motors. With an eminent centennial birthday, there’s been a calendar of events dedicated to Bentley heritage. Most recently, Bentley announced a one-of-a-kind Centenary Concours at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Bentley reports that the centerpieces of this Concours include a display of 30 of the most iconic models from the marque’s past and present. One of which is the 4 ¼ – liter “Embiricos” special- alongside Bentley’s recently unveiled Flying Spur. Another rare highlight includes W.O. Bentley’s very own 8-liter from 1930.

The history of the marque will be showcased during the Goodwood Hillclimb- a track event with a change in gradient of about 4.9%, will feature more Bentleys than ever before. Of the historic vehicles participating, there are four cars traveling from Crewe that highlight the racing heritage of the British automaker:

    • EXP2 – the second experimental prototype built by W.O. Bentley and the oldest surviving Bentley in the world. EXP2 was the first Bentley to go racing, throughout 1921 and 1922, and will make its Goodwood dynamic debut this year.
    • The 1929 Birkin Blower, one of four Team race cars built for Tim Birkin’s racing career and raced at Le Mans in 1930. “No.2” is one of the most campaigned and valuable Bentleys in the world, now insured for £25m. It will be driven up the Hillclimb by Katarina Kyvalova, the founder of the Bentley Belles – a group of talented female drivers that race historic Bentleys around the world.
    • 2003 Speed 8 #7 – the very car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003. The culmination of a three-year campaign, the Speed 8 scored a historic 1-2 finish to claim Bentley’s sixth Le Mans title and it’s first since 1930. Returning for driving duty will be Bentley Boy Guy Smith, who took the chequered flag.
    • The 2018 Continental GT3 – the second generation of GT3 racer, now built from the current Continental GT road car. Racing around the world, the Continental GT3 visits the Festival fresh from winning the 1000km Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup Race at Paul Ricard in the hands of Steven Kane, who will also take the wheel at Goodwood.

Past meets present, with two Grand Tourers from the current line-up joining these historic motorcars.  The Continental GT and new Continental GT Convertible will appear in the Supercar class, with the GTC being piloted by British female racing driver Abbie Eaton. The very latest additions to Bentley’s range – the Bentayga Speed and all-new Flying Spur – will make their UK dynamic debuts as part of the First Glance class.

Bentley At the Goodwood Estate

Ahead of this year’s Festival, and to highlight Bentley’s long-standing partnership with the event, Goodwood and Bentley have produced a joint film featuring some of Bentley’s most important cars from the last century being used across the Goodwood Estate. With a cameo from His Grace The Duke of Richmond and starring his personal butler, Monty, the film is a celebration of the first 100 extraordinary years of Bentley.
