The theme for the 2016 Park Place Dealerships Texas Rangers Triple Play was “Fields of Dreams.”

Park Place Dealerships has been the presenting sponsor of this event since its inception in 2002,” said Rob Sumner, Park Place Dealerships’ director of marketing. “This event has it all: celebrity sightings, great entertainment, and most importantly, an opportunity to raise funds for our community where it is most needed. Working with the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation every year is a great experience and partnership as we have similar goals in helping kids maximize their potential.”

Last year’s Park Place Dealerships Texas Rangers Triple Play event raised more than $610,000 for the Rangers Baseball Foundation. Celebrating its 25th year, the Foundation has given back more than $14 million to help area children. The Foundation provides support for youth baseball programs, youth education, youth health, and youth in crisis.

The Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy really will be a field where dreams come true,” said Karin Morris, executive director of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. “This state-of-the-art facility will provide children across North Texas with a safe place to play baseball and softball. In addition to providing year-round baseball and softball instruction, the Academy will host tournaments, coaching clinics, and skills camps. It will also give young students access to tutoring programs, college prep classes, college and career fairs, financial literacy and internship programs, and MLB industry alternative career workshops.”

Jaguar XJ vs Drone in a Unique ‘Cat and Mouse’ Chase

A Jaguar XJ driven by leading movie stunt driver Mark Higgins took on JaeHong Li, one of the world’s best drone pilots, in a unique ‘cat-and-mouse’ challenge that showcased how future technology could influence car chase filming. The development of advanced driver assistance systems with radar sensors and on board cameras is closely aligned to the development of technology in drones, which are now being used for everything from racing to autonomous parcel delivery.
“Drones are becoming increasingly integrated into society and they can do some amazing things these days,” said Higgins, who is also a champion rally driver. “So when Jaguar offered up the XJ and all its technology to go up against one of the world’s top drone pilots, I jumped at the chance.”

“The Jaguar XJ is designed for the luxury executive market, but it is still a dynamic drive and very capable in all environments. So this was an exciting challenge to use it in. It was certainly up to the chase, and we found some fun ways to evade the drone!” The challenge, which took place at the Zhuhai International Circuit in China, saw Higgins trying to shake off the drone through an industrialized zone containing shipping containers, wide tree-lined boulevards, pit garages and an underground car park. Jag_XJ_Drone_China_Image_170316_11_(127834)Jag_XJ_Drone_China_Image_170316_03_(127833)

The XJ demonstrated agility and control with effortless performance during the challenge.

Technology is making waves in both the car and drone industries – with the drone pilot using autonomous circling and 360-degree camera searching and Higgins in the XJ, benefitting from electric power assisted steering that improves responsiveness and feedback as well systems that use sensors and four on board cameras.

Jag_XJ_Drone_China_Image_170316_04_(127847)

Drone pilot JaeHong Li said: “Flying against the car gave us some interesting insight into how this kind of technology can be used for filming cars – and I think we’ve shown there’s some big potential for future movie car-chase sequences!” : “Technology in drones is developing fast, and like cars, the latest trend is for pilot assistance. The DJI Inspire 1 drone we used is more about precision and poise than outright pace. It has the best-in-class, stabilized Zenmuse X5 aerial camera aboard, as it is mainly used for filming, and was perfect for this challenge.”

Jaguar spokesperson, Ian Hoban, Vehicle Line Director said: “Technology plays a significant part in new Jaguar vehicles these days – from driver assistance systems to telematics and infotainment. This race was an entertaining way to showcase our current technology of 360-degree cameras and sensors on the XJ.

Jag_XJ_Drone_China_Image_170316_14_(127846)

“In everyday situations, cameras and vehicle sensors bring an added reassurance to the driver, making it easier to maneuver and park. Our new systems are all about enhancing the driver experience and making it more relaxing, enjoyable and safe.”

Park Place Jaguar Land Rover Coming Soon to Grapevine

We are thrilled to finally let the cat out of the bag and announce our latest addition to the Park Place Dealerships family. A new Jaguar Land Rover dealership is coming to Grapevine. Expected to open in spring 2017, the dealership will sit on eight acres on the south side of Highway 114 near Texan Trail Parkway. The Grapevine location will be the new home of Jaguar Plano with the addition of the Land Rover brand to our portfolio.

We currently have two dealerships, as well as a body shop in Grapevine,” said Ken Schnitzer, chairman of Park Place Dealerships. “Building a Jaguar Land Rover dealership in Northeast Tarrant County is a natural extension for our company as this market continues to grow. Jaguar has just introduced the new XE and F-PACE, the first SUV in the brand’s history. Land Rover is an iconic brand that introduced the first luxury SUV in the world and has a tremendous following.”

Park Place continues to invest in building facilities that are client friendly, energy efficient, and designed with its clients and employees in mind. Each dealership showcases Park Place’s distinctive style in a warm, inviting environment. The new Park Place Jaguar Land Rover will feature a two-story, LEED-certified facility.  The shop will include 30 service bays and 12 make ready bays. The showroom can accommodate up to 12 new Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. A nine-car service drive and 2,800 square foot carwash will round out the areas dedicated to serving a client’s needs.

Northeast Tarrant County is a great community to do business and with the opening of Jaguar Land Rover, Park Place will have a larger footprint to serve our growing client base,” said Gary Venner, president of Park Place Dealerships. “I have been fortunate to live and work in this community for more than 30 years. It is an honor to work for a company that stands for integrity, respect and excellence and to serve the clients who become a part of our Park Place family.”

The Park Place brand has become synonymous with offering clients a high quality ownership experience. The company continues to be recognized locally and nationally with top honors for its customer service, sales, and excellent processes.

Park Place Jaguar Plano has been named a recipient of the 2016 Pride of Jaguar Retailer Excellence five years in a row. Sixteen of the 162 Jaguar dealers across the United Stated were selected based upon being top performers in three core business categories; customer advocacy, sales and business excellence.  Out of the 16, only one Jaguar retailer is awarded the esteemed Marque of Distinction title for being the top retailer for its brand. Jaguar Plano is proud to have earned the Marque of Distinction as the #1 Jaguar dealership in the country three years in a row.

During the construction phase that will begin immediately, the dealership is expected to create 1,000 jobs. Upon opening, Park Place will add new sales and service positions to the dealership. Currently, there are 48 employees at Jaguar Plano.

Texas-based Good, Fulton & Farrell has been named the architectural firm for the project.  Hill & Wilkinson has been selected as the general contractor.

Jaguar F-TYPE SVR: Tunnel Vision

Jaguar’s latest hit, the Jaguar F-TYPE SVR is music to your ears. Imagine hearing the distinctive sound of the new sports car as it tears through New York City’s Park Avenue Tunnel. The tunnel was closed to the public to showcase the performance and handling of Jaguar’s newest toy in its line-up.

Jag_FTYPE_SVR_Tunnel_New_York_240316_01

The F-TYPE’s visceral sound is one of the most celebrated features of Jaguar’s highly successful sports car.The quarter-mile-long  tunnel, which passes under the iconic Park Avenue area in Manhattan and is a quarter-of-a-mile long, provided a unique environment to experience the distinctive, purposeful, and harder edged sound delivered by the F-TYPE SVR.

Key to the new car’s phenomenal sound is its Titanium and Inconel exhaust system and the latest evolution of Jaguar’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 to deliver increased engine output and the ultimate in performance and driver reward. As part of the New York demonstration, Jaguar used a custom technology specially adapted to respond specifically to the exhaust note of the F-TYPE SVR. As the car powered through Park Avenue tunnel, a series of specially installed lights changed color from white to Jaguar Red in tandem with its increasing acceleration.

The F-TYPE SVR is the first Jaguar SVR and the fastest F-TYPE ever with a top speed of 200mph, developed to be lighter, quicker, faster and more powerful while remaining tractable and useable day-to-day.

Meet the Man Behind the Money of Park Place Dealerships

You never know where your success story will begin, but it always begins with taking a chance. Whether you take a chance and reach for the stars or someone takes a chance on you, oftentimes these chances are handsomely rewarded. Such was the case for Rick Stone, Chief Financial Officer of Park Place Dealerships.
After graduating from Stephen F. Austin University with a degree in Finance, Rick was working as an Accounting Clerk for the City of Nacogdoches when a recruiter who believed in Rick and a twist of fate came together with an opportunity of a lifetime, although at the time it may not have seemed like it.

A recruiter I worked with presented me for a job that I was not qualified to hold,” said Stone. “Thankfully the Schnitzer family took a risk on me and put me in an analyst position for the dealership investments.”

After about 3 years, Rick moved to Dallas to work directly with Mr. Ken Schnitzer- Chairman and Owner of Park Place Dealerships. Rick worked on special projects such as acquisitions, financial analysis, real estate and more. Rick took to his new role with tremendous success and saw the challenges as opportunities. In 2007, he led the effort to bring construction management in-house to improve controls and accountability on real estate construction projects.

Rick Stone2016

In 2015, Rick was promoted to the role of Chief Financial Officer as his predecessor retired. “CFO is the first official title I have ever had with this organization.” During his first two weeks as CFO, Rick made it a point to meet his team face-to-face, although they are dispersed all over DFW as well as Nevada. “In those meetings, one of the common threads in our discussions was the fact that I was there to serve them and not the other way around,” said Rick, “My leadership style is fearless servant, and it works because it’s real. I take the time to know and recognize everyone by their first name or send a quick note of encouragement. They see me every day putting 150% effort right there with them, and they see that I’m not perfect, that I have a sense of humor, and over the past year it has fostered an environment where we support, encourage and edify each other. We laugh together, we cry together, and we battle together. In order to serve others it’s important to establish rapport and get to know the team, because without that rapport they will not seek your service.”

The fearless part of his leadership comes into play by being willing to step out on the thin limbs for his team and for implementing changes, and some may be somewhat unconventional for the industry, to put Park Place in position for greater success. ” It’s [car business] actually a fairly complex business and I thrive on being challenged.”

The fearless factor flows into Rick’s personal life as well. Before he was pouring over financials, he enjoyed pouring his heart out with a good ballad as the lead singer of several hair-metal cover bands during his high-school years. Just recently, he was cast as Mr. Bradley in a production of “Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” FullSizeRender (11)

Family fun includes coaching his sons’ baseball teams for the last 10 years, trips to the beach and tending to a cause close to his heart- youth theatre. “Sounds crazy, I know,” said Rick, “But I’ve seen the confidence in my own kids and in others through performing on stage. In today’s world there are so many ways our youth gets beaten down and discouraged; therefore, it has been refreshing to find an activity that has consistently built them up. The youth is our future and it is incumbent upon all of us to put our youth in position to succeed.”

Whether coaching a baseball team or supporting the accounting team at Park Place, working behind the scenes doesn’t present much room for recognition, however to Rick it’s not the trophies or the plaques that motivate him to work harder. “Seeing a deal get closed or a member grow and develop is what really drives me.

Elegance and Grace: Jaguar Honored With “Best Car Styling” Award

Jaguar is the “Best Car Styling Luxury Brand” and has the awards to prove it. This is the second time the brand was honored by Kelley Blue Book, also winning in 2014, and comes after an incredible transformational year for Jaguar. “Design has always been at the heart of Jaguar products, and to be recognized with this award at a time when the brand is experiencing incredible momentum and growth is very gratifying,” said Kim McCullough, Vice President, Marketing, Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC. “As we begin to expand our line up with the addition of the XE and F-PACE this spring, we look forward to the opportunity to reach an even wider audience and welcome new owners and fans of the brands.”

The Most Hardcore F-TYPE Ever

Introducing the next step in the F-TYPE’s bloodline: the F-TYPE SVR, the new benchmark for Jaguar sports cars, taking the acclaimed F-TYPE to even higher levels of performance and capability. The F-TYPE SVR acts as the new halo to the F-TYPE and Jaguar range alike and is quite simply the ultimate F-TYPE,  the peak of road-going and track-ready performance. One measure of track capability is delivering a target lap time of the legendary Nürburgring circuit of 7 minutes 33 seconds.
As the pinnacle of Jaguar sports cars, the F-TYPE SVR comes with exclusive performance technologies and form follows-function styling.

F Type SVR Coupe
Powered by the most powerful production Jaguar engine with 575hp and 516lb-ft, the F-TYPE SVR reaches 60mph in just 3.5 seconds enabled by significant aerodynamic and chassis improvements, with an electronically limited top speed of 200mph for the Coupe and 195mph for the Convertible.

Evolved from the successful R model, the F-TYPE SVR features aerodynamic aids, including a re-designed active rear spoiler, apertures in the wheel arch liners, unique front bumper and undertray, larger hood louvers and flat rear under-floor,significant gains in down-force are achieved compared to a standard F-TYPE R.

The new F-TYPE SVR is the first series production Jaguar car to be developed by Special Vehicle Operations and benefits from everything we know about precision engineering, performance and design…The result is a 200mph, all-weather supercar that you can drive every day – we even made a Convertible version so that enthusiasts can revel in the sound from the new titanium exhaust system.” John Edwards, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations.

F Type SVR Convertible
The F-TYPE SVR includes significant design and aerodynamic development to deliver the ultimate F-TYPE. Enhancements are carried out to the front of the car, altering its appearance and lending it a more track focused and assertive look, and at the rear with an aggressive active aerodynamic spoiler and new diffuser.
The F-TYPE SVR features a new front bumper with enlarged air intakes and the hood features larger louvers that not only evoke Jaguar’s rich sporting history but also uses the flow of air over the hood to help extract more hot air from the engine compartment.

F Type SVR Front Bumper

F Type SVR louvers

The unique side fender vents reduce the high pressure in the wheel arch area which helps smooth airflow and reduce front end lift. The drag reduction allows the car to achieve 200mph while the lift reduction improves the vehicle’s dynamic behavior and cornering speeds.

F Type SVR Side Profile
In order to balance the front and rear lift, the F-TYPE SVR features a unique active aerodynamic carbon fiber rear spoiler. The SVR spoiler is elevated and wider than the standard F-TYPE R deployable spoiler, enabling it to act over the whole width of the car rather than just the width of the trunk lid. The spoiler operates in in two different modes: Low Drag Position: For maximum top speed, the wing is stowed, it works in conjunction with the front spoiler and other aero enhancements to bring a drag coefficient reduction of 7.5% and lift coefficient reduction of 15%. Deployed: For maximum down force and dynamic driving, the spoiler is deployed giving a drag coefficient Cd reduction of 2.5% and significant lift coefficient of 45%.

F Type SVR Spoiler
V-Max Mode: in order to achieve 200mph drivers must consciously prepare their SVR. This ensures the car is set up correctly to achieve this speed and ensures the driver is conscious of their actions. To activate V-MAX mode, driver selects Dynamic Mode and then presses the active rear spoiler switch for longer than 3 seconds. A message is displayed on the cluster stating “V-MAX mode confirmed“. A permanent symbol appears on the cluster whilst V-MAX mode is active. (V-MAX mode cannot be selected above 60mph.)
F Type SVR V Max
The interior has been developed with an elegant attention to detail. The SVR Performance seats are covered in premium leather, and exclusive to the F-TYPE SVR is the Lozenge quilting inspired by the Jaguar Lozenge Graphic associated with Jaguars racing history.

F Type SVR Seats
The backrest is embossed with the SVR logo. The new SVR branded steering wheel is available in Jet leather with four contrasting stitch colors (which harmonize with interior options).

Park Place Dealerships Entrepreneurs’ Lecture Series Kicks Off

The Fort Worth and Dallas chapters of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), a global, peer-to-peer network, recently teamed up to kick off its 2016 Entrepreneurs’ Lecture Series at AT&T Stadium. Park Place Dealerships has been the title sponsor of the lecture series in Dallas for the past four years and has become the title sponsor in Fort Worth this past year. Retired United States Air Force pilot Rob Shallenberger was the guest speaker who shared his experiences as an F-16 pilot and challenged the guests to create a flight plan for life.

Pictured left to right: Don Lamont, President of the Fort Worth EO chapter; Rob Sumner, Director of Marketing for Park Place Dealerships; and Stephen LaMure, President EO Dallas.

Following the presentation, the 150 guests were treated to a self-guided tour of the Dallas Cowboys locker room and the opportunity to kick a field goal on the field. The group had a great time networking and sharpening their skills, but at the end of the evening determined Dallas Cowboys place kicker Dan Bailey had nothing to worry about for challengers in the upcoming season.

Ken Schnitzer founded Park Place Dealerships in 1987 with a single Mercedes-Benz dealership on Oak Lawn in Dallas. Today, Park Place operates 18 full-service dealerships representing the top luxury brands.
