Lexus Continues to Provide the Best: A Review of 2013 Lexus Hybrids

Lexus CT Hybrid

Lexus has distanced itself from every other luxury car maker with its winning commitment to advanced Lexus hybrid-electric cars. For the 2013 model year, this means that Lexus offers hybrids on nearly every model within the company’s lineup. As Lexus continues a blitz of new product launches, hybrids have taken a place that is unique in the industry as the ultra-luxury, range topping models within each lineup. More powerful than their gasoline counterparts as well as more efficient, Lexus hybrids have shaken off the sluggish reputation of hybrid technology and ushered in a new era where efficiency and power go hand in hand.

Lexus CT Hybrid

2013 Lexus CT 200h

At 43 city and 40 highway mpg, the CT 200h is the most efficient true luxury car on the market. With the Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain it shares with the award-winning Prius, the Lexus is a more luxurious and sporty take on Toyota’s industry-standard hybrid. Its 134-horsepower gas-electric hybrid system and smooth CVT transmission makes the CT 200h is as agile a performer as its bold, iconoclastic exterior design suggests. New for 2013, Lexus’s Intuitive Parking Assist system uses sensors to detect distance to nearby vehicles and other obstructions. Audible tones and graphics on the center console display warn the driver of impending collisions.

Luxury features include a power sliding glass moon roof, Lexus Enform emergency telematics and infotainment system with “virtual concierge” features, smartphone-enhanced apps, and much more.

Lexus ES hybrid

2013 Lexus ES 300h

The Lexus ES has undergone a complete redesign for the 2013 model year. It has transformed a car that has always been a leader in comfort and class to an even better performer as well. Suspension and steering response have been completely overhauled which ensures that the new-generation ES is as agile as it is comfortable. That includes the new Lexus ES 300h hybrid luxury sedan, the first time hybrid power has come to the ES lineup. At 40 city/39 highway mpg, it is remarkable for a sedan in its class with a combined peak output of 200 horsepower. The car drives and performs without the “trade-offs” hybrid drivers have come to expect. The new ES has migrated from Toyota’s midsize platform to a large car platform and now features nearly as much interior space as the cavernous LS flagship luxury car. Standard features include eco-friendly NuLuxe leatherette upholstery made from sustainable materials and easily renewable bamboo trim that is only available on the hybrid model, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-speaker premium audio system with USB/iPod and auxiliary inputs and a six-disc CD changer, Lexus Safety Connect, and more.

The option book also includes a premium Display Audio with navigation and Lexus Enform infotainment system with Lexus’s eyes-on-the-road Remote Touch control interface which helps to avoid distracted driving. True audiophiles can upgrade to the 15-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound stereo system.

Lexus GS Hybrid

2013 Lexus GS 450h

Think of the Lexus GS sedan lineup as the ES’s athletic big brother. Both are roomy, luxurious, efficient and feature top-shelf luxury, but while the ES is tuned more for comfortable cruising, the GS is a world-class sport sedan. Lexus has positioned the hybrid GS 450h as the more luxurious alternative to the V6-powered GS 350, with many option sheet items from that car equipped as standard equipment in the hybrid package. Like most top sport sedans, the GS 450h features rear-wheel drive and suspension response tuned for fun on twisty roads.

The car’s hybrid system combines a clean-burning Atkinson-cycle 3.5-liter V6 engine with dual electric motors which combine for a total system 338 peak horsepower. That’s enough grunt to provide a 5.6-second 0-60 mph dash. Forget conceptions you may hold about hybrids: this is a fine-crafted luxury sport sedan which returns an outstanding 29 city, 34 highway and 31 combined mpg.

Lexus RX Hybrid

2013 Lexus RX 450h

Among all Lexus hybrid vehicle offerings to date, the RX lineup has been by far the most successful. Consumers have fallen in love with this luxury crossover. The RX 450h is as efficient (31 combined mpg) as many tiny subcompact cars, despite its spacious seating for five adult passengers and a full 40 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat. Fold that flat, and you’ll find 80.3 cubic feet behind the front seats.

With a revised exterior design and all-new interior for 2013, the RX 450h is more luxurious than ever before. Safety Connect emergency response comes standard, along with a nine-speaker audio system, a power lift gate, keyless entry and ignition, Bluetooth phone and streaming audio, and much more. To make the ordering process easier, the hybrid RX 450h is offered in a single trim level, with popular options grouped into packages. Among the highlights: Lexus Enform in-car app suite, a heads-up display, full leather seating and trim, adaptive cruise control and a 15-speaker surround sound system. The RX 450h is not just the finest hybrid crossover SUV on the market, it’s among the best all-around everyday luxury vehicles you’ll find at any price.

Lexus LS Hybrid

Lexus LS 600h L

Reviews for the 2013 Lexus LS 600h L series place a spotlight on internal and external upgrades. Vehicles are the fourth incarnation of sedans produced by Toyota’s luxury division. Sleek styling and whisper-soft operation make the LS 600h a thing of beauty.

United States consumers caught their first glimpse of the LS 600h in 2006 at the New York International Auto Show. The all-wheel drive design powers all four wheels for better traction on uneven terrain or during inclimate weather. A longer wheelbase offers more internal cabin space for increased passenger comfort.

Performance

According to Edmunds.Com, a 389 horsepower engine takes drivers from zero to 60 in approximately 5.5 seconds. A duel electric generator system provides engine and rear wheel power. Vehicle fuel economy is approximately 19 miles per gallon (mpg) within city limits and 23 mpg on the highway. Left Lane News indicates LS 600h models meet the criteria for Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle II (SULEV II) certification, meaning the vehicles emit less harmful chemicals when compared with other new models.

External

External features include 19-inch alloy wheels and parking sensors to facilitate vehicle movement in tight spaces. Power trunk and keyless entry capabilities increase driver safety by reducing time spent fumbling with keys to open car locks. The blind-spot monitoring system offers cross-traffic alerts, a helpful feature at busy intersections. 2013 models also include updating of the signature Lexus front grille and chrome accents attaching the rear taillights.

Internal

Lexus 600h L drivers enjoy power-adjustable leather seats and a heated, leather steering wheel equipped with internal vehicle controls for heat / air, radio and hands-free telephone calls. The Lexus Enform entertainment center links to Bing and iHeartRadio. A voice-activated navigation system, Bluetooth capabilities and Mark Levinson audio system make every ride an indulgent adventure. Multiple airbags, traction control and brake assist maximize occupant safety.

Upgrades

Optional upgrades include premium packages with additional climate control and massage features. A rear-seat duel entertainment center plays digital video discs (DVDs) and features wireless headphones for a quiet, peaceful ride. An executive-seating option removes the center rear seat to create room for a wooden table and beverage cooler.

The Lexus LS 600h L series combines environmentally friendly technology with luxurious design. To quote Edmunds.Com: “…it should give any large luxury sedan a run for its considerable money.” Customers no longer have to choose between social consciousness and personal satisfaction.

Choosing the Best New Luxury SUV: The Lexus LX

2013 Lexus LX Dallas

When purchasing a luxury SUV, there are several things that you absolutely must have. First, you require the power and versatility that a capable SUV should offer. The SUV needs enough cargo space to safely and comfortably transport whatever needs transporting, be it a new piece of furniture or a cooler and fishing gear for a quiet day at the lake. The vehicle needs to have plenty of comfortable seating for the family, and it needs to have cutting edge features and equipment to make every time you drive it as safe and as comfortable as possible. The new Lexus LX 570 offers all of this and more, making it one of the best choices available for a new SUV in 2013.

2013 Lexus LX Dallas

The LX 570 skipped a 2012 model, making the 2013 a substantial step up over its 2011 predecessor. Under the hood the LX 570 packs plenty of power, with a 5.7 liter V-8 engine boasting a solid 383 horsepower. The sturdy frame construction makes it a solid off-road vehicle that can tackle rugged terrain or roughed-up back roads without a wink, including an available suspension with height adjustment capabilities to ensure proper clearance over obstacles (or just make it easier to get in and out of the vehicle!). The 570 is rated to tow up to seven thousand pounds – plenty of power to haul a boat to a secluded mountain lake.

Also included is Lexus’ special Crawl Control feature. Crawl Control can be activated at slow speeds, permitting the driver to ignore the accelerator and brake pedals, instead focusing on navigating difficult terrain. The car itself maintains a slow but steady speed, regulating engine output and brake usage to help prevent slippage. Combined with the adaptive variable suspension and active height control, even the roughest boulder-strewn terrain can be conquered.

Of course, the LX is just as competent on the interstate as off. Strong acceleration and passing power mean an easy, comfortable drive wherever you are.

Space is at anything but a premium. Initially, the 570 comfortably seats eight, with power seating for the second and third rows as well as the first. When storage is needed more than seating, the second and third rows both flip and fold away, creating a huge flat-bed cargo space that can comfortably hold anything that fits in the vehicle. When the load is removed, the seats flip back easily and quickly to accommodate passengers.

As for protecting those passengers, not a single safety feature was spared when outfitting the Lexus LX. A staggering ten airbags are included, as well as active head restraints. When off-road settings are enabled, stability control helps keep everything level. Every model of the LX includes a rearview camera for protection when backing up, with a 180-degree front camera being available to provide extra peace of mind approaching low-height dangers from the front. Safety Connect also comes standard with one year of free emergency connection services just in case.

Helping with safety as well as luxury is the Lexus Enform connectivity system that automatically connects Bluetooth-enabled smartphones to the SUV itself, allowing for hands free phone calls and audio so the driver can keep his or her focus on the road. The system also ties in with mobile phone apps like Pandora and Facebook, among others, allowing them to be operated using either voice commands or the beautiful included LCD touch screen.

The luxury features do not stop there. Four-zone climate control lets every occupant feel comfortable. Satellite radio means plenty of programming for those who opt not to use their own music collection. For those who opt in for XM or use your own music playlist, your tunes can be enjoyed using the surround sound system by Mark Levinson, which boasts nineteen individual speakers. Front seats are both heated and ventilated, the second row of seats is heated along with the steering wheel, and Smart Access keyless entry is supported with a quick push-button engine startup.

Kids will be especially big fans of the dual-screen entertainment system. Both back rows are allowed wireless headphones for enjoyment of whatever is playing. The screen also supports dual-sourcing, meaning two different devices can be plugged into the screen at one time – a DVD players and a game console, for instance.

In the end, the Lexus LX 570 offers exactly what is wanted for a luxury off-road SUV: powerful, rugged off-road capabilities with adjustable variable suspension and Crawl Control, strong interstate and city performance and passing power with features like hill-start assist control, and incomparable luxury in the versatile entertainment system and suite of comfort options. If searching for a luxury SUV for 2013, seek no further than the LX 570.

Five Reasons Why You Should Consider a Luxury Lexus SUV

2013 Lexus RX Dallas

Rising gas prices and a damaged economy caused SUV’s to fall out of favor with many consumers and yet, expert buying guides continue to insist that there are benefits associated with luxury SUV purchases. If you are a fan of superior artisanship and excellent customer service, then there is no need to search further beyond a Lexus.

The birth of luxury vehicles began during the 1920’s and 30’s for the affluent, causing a number of well-known manufacturers to combine indulgent comforts like plush seating with racing performance. However, It wasn’t until the mid-1960s that the concept of luxury SUVs emerged with the addition of premier features on select off-road cars.

2013 GX Entertainment

Developers at Toyota started working on Lexus vehicles in the early 80s. The company chair wanted to create a luxury vehicle that appealed to consumers and held its own against European brands. U.S. markets saw the first Lexus vehicle in 1989. In 1996, the company unveiled its first SUV model, the RX.

Some consumer guides attempt to dispel the allure of luxury car purchases, especially during financially turbulent times. Cars.com found amenities like extended standard warranty and maintenance packages, and complementary loaner cars help luxury vehicle owners keep more money in their pockets along with the status associated with Lexus ownership. If you are on the fence of purchasing a Lexus SUV, we have compiled a short, sweet least of reasons to say yes.

1. Many advanced technologies are available as standard vehicle features.

Lexus SUVs offer technologies that include high definition voice activated navigation systems and driver-customizable vehicle suspensions. Owners enjoy center panel remote touch screen controls for ease of use and safety. Forbes Magazine indicates this level of customization is rare among economy brands. Customers who purchase economy SUVs pay an additional fee for a fraction of the standard features available on Lexus model vehicles.

In short, Lexus provides more bang for your buck during times when expenditures matter the most. The company does offer luxurious package upgrades but aren’t necessary to enjoy the driving experience. Essentially, buyers receive the latest technology without adding to the vehicle’s price tag.

2013 Lexus LX Interior

2. Multiple features make Lexus SUVs some of the safest vehicles on the road.

Forbes said luxury car models provide owners with enhanced safety features. Lexus SUVs feature stability control to minimize the possibility of skidding when tires lose traction. Head-level airbags offer valuable protection from window impact in the event of a crash while a feature known as Auto Crash Notify places immediate calls for help after detecting an accident. Lexus SUVs received high marks in safety tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

3. Lexus resale values are higher than competing brands.

Cars.com provided a breakdown on the financial benefits of purchasing luxury model vehicles. Experts found that economy cars depreciated faster than luxury models due to overwhelming customer demand in the certified, pre-owned luxury market. Kelley Blue Book said Lexus SUVs resale values exceed those of competing models due to a legacy of outstanding craftsmanship. This means that Lexus owners stand to lose very little in the event they choose to part with their beloved vehicle.

2013 Lexus RX Dallas

4. Hybrid models rank first in their class.

U.S. News and World Report lists Lexus hybrid SUVs as a top consumer option. More customers than ever wish to reduce their global footprint without sacrificing aesthetic pleasures. Hybrid science involves storing excess energy generated during operation in an electric motor that allows the car to use less fuel without sacrificing power. Lexus hybrids engines offer a quiet ride while surrounding passengers in traditional automotive indulgences like plush seats and state of the art entertainment systems.

5. No one does customer service like Lexus.

Lexus ranked the highest among luxury brands in a study conducted by J.D. Power and Associates last year. The details appeared in an LA Times article. As early as 2007, Lexus dealerships featured amenities to enhance the service experience for vehicle owners. The Wall Street Journal found establishments with putting greens, concierge services and beauty salons. Creating a decadent environment makes some Lexus owners feel they purchase into a highly selective social club.

Customer service is especially important to Lexus. Dealerships find many owners constantly discuss their favorable brand experiences and frequently encourage others to explore Lexus ownership. Happy customers are loyal customers, and Lexus turned the science into an art form.

In the end, performance, prestige and personalization make many customers life-long fans of Lexus luxury vehicles. From its sedan origins, the company created an internationally recognized SUV line including environmentally friendly hybrid models that do not skimp on creature comforts. Look no further than Lexus for durable, luxurious SUVs.

The 2013 Lexus Line: Features, Additions and Upgrades

2013-Lexus-ES DFW

There’s more to the 2013 Lexus lineup than the new spindle grill: Nearly every model has been heavily revised, while the F Sport line has spread to include five models. With their reputation for comfort and unparalleled reliability secured, Lexus has their sights set on their sportier rivals.

2013 Lexus CT

2013 Lexus CT DFW

Just because you need a small, efficient car doesn’t mean you have to forgo luxury. The CT200h combines a hybrid drivetrain with all the features expected from a Lexus. The result is a comfortable, agile hatchback that gets an EPA estimated 43 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway.

New this year is the 200h F Sport. It keeps the same drivetrain and fuel efficiency as the standard car, but adds a different wheel/tire combo and a revised suspension for sharper handling.

2013 Lexus IS

2013 Lexus IS DFW

This small sedan offers a nice compromise between performance and comfort, providing a top-notch interior and agile handling. Buyers can get either the 2.5 liter V6 equipped IS250 or the 3.5 liter V6 equipped IS350 without being forced to choose between equipment: The F Sport package can be added to either version letting buyers choose between better weight balance or better straight line performance, and all wheel drive is also available on both models.

Also, the C hardtop convertible is available with the F Sport package for the first time this year, and all models get the latest version of the Lexus Enform infotainment system.

2013 Lexus ES

2013-Lexus-ES DFW

The most popular sedan for the Lexus brand is moving onto a new platform that increases interior space; rear seat passengers will feel the biggest difference thanks to an additional four inches of legroom. The new exterior design not only updates the car’s looks, it reduces drag and increases high-speed stability. Joining the ES350 is the new ES300h hybrid. It combines a 2.5 liter four cylinder with an electric motor to provide excellent fuel economy.

2013 Lexus GS

2013 Lexus GS DFW

The recently redesigned GS now has a solid lead in the mid-size luxury sports sedan segment. While new features like a massive 12.3 inch infotainment screen are nice, the real show-stopper is the car’s fantastic handling.

The F-Sport model adds the new Lexus Dynamic Handling System. A combination of rear wheel steering, variable ratio power steering and a retuned suspension gives the GS stellar handling right up to the limit without the “electronic nanny” feeling of other high tech cars. The result is a car that not only beats its German competitors on the track, but embarrasses many dedicated “sports cars”.

The GS450h hybrid is aimed squarely at the luxury end of the spectrum, combining the GS350’s V6 with electric power to provide fluid, effortless acceleration.

2013 Lexus LS

2013 Lexus LS DFW

Lexus’ flagship sedan has been renowned for its refinement and reliability since its introduction twenty years ago. For the first time in the model’s history, the car is adding features to please those who like to drive as well as those who like to be driven.

For those who like to be driven, changes to the sound deadening and wheels make the cabin even quieter. Lexus Climate Concierge controls the air temperature and seat temperature for each passenger, as well as the steering wheel temperature for the driver. Buyers of the long wheelbase “L” version can get the Ottoman Seating Package that adds a Shiatsu-style massage system to the rear seats.

For drivers, the car gets a blind spot monitor and a system that can warn the driver of cross traffic while backing out of a parking space. Variable ratio power steering improves feel, while a new F Sport version finally gives buyers a sporty option. Both it and the standard LS 460 are available in regular and long wheelbase “L” versions.

The 600h L returns, combining a 5.0-liter V8 with an electric powertrain to provide V12 power without V12 fuel economy.

2013 Lexus RX

2013 Lexus RX DFW

This year, the original luxury crossover gets a new power liftgate and an F Sport trim has been added to sharpen the RX’s handling. Like the LS600h L, the RX450h uses a hybrid powertrain to provide both improved performance and better fuel economy, yet both it and the RX350 provide class leading fuel economy, LED running lights and an updated dash

2013 Lexus LX

2013 Lexus LX DFW

A combination of the Land Cruiser’s legendary off-road prowess and Lexus’ skill in building luxury combine to create one of the most capable, most luxurious SUVs on the market.

This year sees the addition of a new camera system that lets drivers navigate tight spaces, whether rock crawling or trying to find a parking space, while middle row passengers now have access to a 120-volt outlet. The Easy Access system moves the steering wheel and driver’s seat away from each other when the ignition is off, making it easier to get into and out of the vehicle.

2013 Lexus GX

2013 Lexus GX DFW

The LX’s little brother brings serious off-road capabilities to a mid-size SUV. A 4.6-liter V8 and body-on-frame chassis let the GX460 tow up to 6,000 lbs., while a power folding third row seat lets owners switch between cargo hauling and people hauling duties with ease.

Regardless of what model you fancy from the Lexus 2013 revamp, each has their strong points. If you want more information on the line-up be sure to visit your favorite Park Place Lexus in Plano and Grapevine to see one of our experts in excellence.

With the announcement of a significantly updated 2013 Lexus LS model, Lexus enthusiasts in the DFW area are in for a big treat.

“The design for the 2013 LS is exciting,” he said. “We wanted a younger, fresher feel and style, and that’s certainly what we have here throughout the entire line of LS cars.”

The considered contours of the car’s exterior will have those who are loyal to other luxury brands giving the new LS a second and a third look as they park next to one or pull up to its side at stop light. The body lines flow seamlessly into the striking new front spindle grill, which gives the LS a new, even more attractive face.
Those who have driven the LS sedan for years expect and deserve the elements many would term as luxuries. The LS was the world’s first prestige luxury hybrid, so it shouldn’t come as a shock to know the intelligent 438-hp Lexus Hybrid Drive comes through in an efficient and reliably smooth manner. Adding to the grand, sustainable standards the LS hybrid has set for itself; the 2013 model boasts an environmentally friendly bamboo-trimmed steering wheel and interior which functions in ways well beyond the aesthetic value it provides.

Lexus bestows this honor on only a very select group of dealerships, based on customer ratings and a rigorous series of operational and certification requirements. We are honored to say that Park Place Lexus Plano has earned this prestigious award 19 times and Park Place Lexus Grapevine earned it the past 11 consecutive years.

Choosing the Best New Luxury SUV: The Lexus GX

Best Luxury SUV Lexus GX

There are very few automobiles that can handle being tough and luxurious at the same time, but the Lexus GX has managed to pull this off as it has time and time again. The latest sports utility vehicle offers supreme talent in both avenues. The Lexus GX offers a smooth ride and the ability to power through a rugged trail.

The GX manages this complex ability thanks to capable hardware living beneath soft leather and polished wood. Not only are there stabilizer bars, but also an adaptive suspension for all kinds of terrain. Also, Crawl control endows the GX with additional control when heading off-road, automatically braking and throttling to create outstanding uphill and downhill performance.

For an all-purpose mover that can keep a family in tow off the main road, that is just as comfortable as a quick trip into the city, one cannot go wrong with the Lexus GX.

Housing seven passengers, the Lexus GX comes in the base and premium flavors. The standard features include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-folding third row seats, a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, a sunroof, heated front seats with eight way adjustment, driver memory settings, a power lumbar support, heated side mirrors, 18 inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, running boards and wipers that can sense the rain. Other features include a camera for backing up safely and an audio speaker with an auxiliary audio jack, iPod connectivity, six CD changer, satellite radio, Bluetooth phone and audio and more across nine speakers.

The premium package allows drivers to add rear air conditioning, heated second row seats, a wood trimmed heated steering wheel, automatically dimming side view mirrors, adaptive xenon lights, adaptive variable suspension and better upholstery for the leather interior. Many of these can be added as options on the base model.

Other options that a user may pick up include power folding exterior mirrors, a lane departure warning system, a navigation system, front and rear parking sensors, surround sound audio and a rear seat entertainment system. Premium options include the crawl control and more.

As far as performance goes, a 4.6-liter V8 engine introduces 329 pound-feet of torque and 301 horsepower to the Lexus GX, and it sports a six speed automatic transmission that powers all four wheels through the dual range transfer case. With the right equipment, the GX is capable of towing upwards of 6,500 pounds. Testing shows it takes 7.2 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. The Lexus GX achieves 15 miles per gallon in the city, 20 miles per gallon on the highway, and 17 miles per gallon when combined.

The standard safety features for the Lexus GX include front passenger knee airbags, front side airbags, rear side airbags, hill start assist, hill descent control, antilock brakes and traction and stability control. Brake testing shows the GX can screech to a halt from 60 miles per hour in 127 feet.

Interior

The level of precision in the Lexus GX is top notch. While the number of features available in the model means there are quite a few buttons, the buttons are positioned in an intuitive manner, allowing for ease of use. It is easy to read the gauges and the navigation system as well.

There are 92 cubic feet of cargo space with the lowered third-row seats, and the front row seats are very comfortable and convenient. Additionally, there is a swinging cargo door on the passenger side rather than the liftgate that is standard on other luxury SUVs, and it is easy to stow small packages with a flip up rear window.
