Porsche engineers have created the new 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera, an icon that remains instantly recognizable after almost 50 years. Yet over 90 percent of its components are new or modified. 2013 911 Carrera. Even with reducing engine displacement to 3.4-liters, the 911 Carrera generates more power and accelerates faster than its 3.6-liter predecessor allowing the car to take off and reach 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.

Interior
The extended wheelbase provides 25 mm more leg room in the front than in previous 911 Carrera models. The new elevated center console means the distance between the gear lever or selector and the steering wheel extremely short. Safety

Porsche stability management (PSM). As standard, the 911 Carrera models include enhanced Porsche Stability Management (PSM), which maintains stability even at the limits of dynamic driving performance. Sensors continuously monitor the direction, speed, yaw velocity and lateral acceleration of the car.
Braking system. The 911 Carrera is fitted front and rear with black anodized, four-piston, aluminum monobloc fixed calipers. On the 911 Carrera S, the brakes are differentiated not just by the red calipers, but by larger brake rotors and more brake pistons at the front wheels, to cope with its increased engine power.
Electric parking brake. As you pull away, the new electronic parking brake automatically releases. With the hill-hold function, you can pull away without ever rolling back. You can manually activate and deactivate this safety feature.
Porsche Stability Management (PSM). This standard system on the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S models. It comprises side impact protection elements in the doors and two airbags on each side. An integral thorax airbag is located in the seat backrests, while the door panels contain an upward-inflating head airbag.
Airbags. Advanced airbag technology includes full-size driver and front-passenger airbags, which are inflated in two stages depending on the severity and angle of impact. In less serious accidents, the airbags partially inflate to minimize discomfort to the occupants. Also included are knee airbags for the driver and passenger.
Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). This safety system sends warnings to the onboard computer’s display screen in the event of a gradual or sudden loss of pressure. The pressures in all four tires can be displayed in the instrument cluster.
