Lexus Is the Most Trusted and Top Overall Luxury Brand
Lexus is both the most trusted and the top overall luxury brand, according to Kelley Blue Book’s (KBB) 2016 Brand Image awards. The awards are based on KBB’s Brand Watch Study that tracks customer perception of various vehicle attributes. KBB received input from over 12,000 new-vehicle shoppers who were in the market for a new vehicle, and turned to KBB.com to do their research.
“Lexus has built its reputation on offering supreme luxury combined with incredible reliability, and it’s a combination that puts its brand at the top of all luxury brands,” says KBB. “No other luxury brand has a record of reliability like Lexus. That commitment to dependability has helped define the brand since it launched as Toyota’s luxury division nearly three decades ago, and it continues today. In turn, that devotion has led to trust. When you buy a Lexus, you aren’t just buying a vehicle with plush amenities, a comfortable ride and stylish design — you’re stepping into a brand whose very name is synonymous with reliability.”
Coming Soon: 2018 Lexus LC 500
About Lexus, KBB says: “These days, Lexus is adding even more arrows to its quiver, with advanced infotainment systems, high-tech driver assistants and styling that turns heads in a way that Lexus cars and SUVs never have. It all comes together while maintaining the company’s focus on high quality and long-term value.”

Lexus Tops J.D.Power’s Dependability Rankings
Lexus continues to dominate the leader board in vehicle dependability among all brands for the fifth consecutive year in the 2016 J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). In addition to the brand’s highest score in the overall nameplate ranking, Lexus received three segment awards. The Lexus ES is the most dependable premium model overall, reporting the lowest average number of problems per 100 vehicles and was ranked highest in the Compact Premium Car segment. The study measures the number of owner-reported problems of 2013 model year vehicles in their third-year of ownership.
The Lexus GS won in the Midsize Premium Car segment and the Lexus GX in the Midsize Premium SUVs, with the Lexus RX coming in second in the category.
The VDS results are just the latest in a series of recent industry honors taken home by Lexus.
- Kelley Blue Book recognizes several Lexus vehicles with “Best Resale Value Awards” for 2016. For the fifth year in a row, Lexus took top honors for luxury brand.
- Lexus RX and LS flagship sedan each won Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com 5-year “Cost to Own” awards in their segments for new cars in their initial five-year ownership period.

Park Place Dealerships has been the title sponsor of the lecture series in Dallas for the past four years and has become the title sponsor in Fort Worth this past year. Following the presentation, the 150 guests were treated to a self-guided tour of the Dallas Cowboys locker room and the opportunity to kick a field goal on the field. The group had a great time networking and sharpening their skills, but at the end of the evening determined Dallas Cowboys place kicker Dan Bailey had nothing to worry about for challengers in the upcoming season.

Lexus LC 500 Is Already an Award Winner
Lexus has received high accolades for the all-new LC 500 luxury coupe. The Lexus LC 500 was named 2016 EyesOn Design Award for Design Excellence – Production Car and EyesOn Design Award for Design Excellence – Interior Design at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Designed by Lexus Design in Toyota City, Japan, the LC 500 represents the future direction of exhilarating and progressive design for Lexus. The Lexus designers were challenged to work closely with engineers to take the LF-LC show car and make it a reality. They were seeking new ways to redefine the Lexus design style with dynamic design and advanced technology, yet remain within reach for luxury buyers.
“I am so honored to receive the EyesOn Design awards for best interior design and design excellence for the LC 500 from our designer peers,” said Tadao Mori, chief designer of the LC 500. “The LC 500 is a clear result of the passion, hard work and collaboration between the designers and engineers for the future chapter of Lexus.”
The NAIAS 2016 EyesOn Design Awards honor the best production and concept vehicles making their worldwide auto show debut at NAIAS. The awards are selected by active and retired design heads of automotive manufacturers and transportation design chairs from top art schools.
2017 Lexus LC 500 Sports Coupe Makes Bold Statement About Lexus’ Future
The all-new 2017 Lexus LC 500 brings together provocative and alluring design with an engaging yet seductive atmosphere for the driver in the cabin. The expressively designed luxury coupe defines a new era for Lexus. “The LC 500 has been an important product for Lexus and me personally,” said Akio Toyoda, Chief Branding Officer and Master Driver for Lexus. “A few years ago, we decided to guide the future of the brand with products that had more passion and distinction in the luxury market. This flagship luxury coupe’s proportions, stunning design and performance make a strong statement about our brand’s emotional direction and will grow the Lexus luxury appeal globally.”
For Lexus, the LC 500 project became much more than simply the development of a new coupe. The LC 500, with the shift in engineering processes and design ideologies it represents, symbolizes the beginning of a new phase for the Lexus brand.
“Design and engineering sides worked together on issues and obstacles that were overcome one by one. I feel we achieved something greater than simply preserving the spirit of the concept’s design,” said Chief Engineer Koji Sato.
The LC 500’s visual appeal is defined by an athletic aerodynamic shape. It features sensual curves, emotional forms, an available flowing carbon-fiber roof (glass roof standard), helping create a low, wide imposing stance that comes together for a highly functional, passionate package.
The LC 500’s front fascia features a powerful interpretation of Lexus’ distinctive grille, bordered by chrome on three sides and a radical new 3D mesh design that varies its visual tension. The “L”-shaped daytime running lights rest below a new Triple LED headlamp unit, specially designed to include one of the industry’s thinnest projectors enabling a low hood with a short front overhang. Functional venting also plays into the LC 500’s exterior design to help improve aerodynamic stability and cooling.
The car’s athletic profile is characterized by its fast, sloped roofline, its wind-cutting silhouette, a long (113 inches) wheelbase with compact front and rear overhangs and low hood height. A rear diffuser and available active rear spoiler also help manage airflow during performance driving.
Helping power transfer to the rear wheels is a newly developed 10-speed automatic transmission—the first ever in a luxury automobile—with shift times rivaling those of a dual-clutch transmission. The vehicle targets a 0 to 60 mph time of less than 4.5 seconds.
The LC 500 is the first Lexus to use the brand’s all-new, premium rear-wheel-drive luxury platform and is part of the new corporate global architecture for luxury vehicles (GA-L). In an effort to sharpen the car’s handling, the LC 500’s engineers focused on the platform’s fundamentals by placing most of the mass, including the engine and the occupants, in a position more centralized and lower in the chassis to improve the center of gravity.
The heart of the new LC 500 is derived from the proven, high-revving 5.0-liter V8 that is found in the RC F and GS F. The all-aluminum, 32-valve V8’s output targets 467 HP and 389 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine in the LC 500 uses a dual intake inlet that help improve breathing and allow the engine to produce its fantastic sound. The new coupe features an active exhaust that opens baffles in Sport mode to help give the car a more aggressive exhaust note even in start-up. During acceleration, a Sound Generator involving tuned acoustic plumbing enhances the engine’s raucous melody into an aural thunder that helps distinguish the LC 500 in its competitive segment.
The interior design of the LC 500 is influenced by the dynamic luxury theme of the exterior with a layout that is both cockpit-focused and elegant.
The coupe’s driving position was calibrated to invite spirited, sporting driving, and help develop easier confidence with a more intuitive control layout.
This flagship coupe will debut the 2017 Lexus Multimedia package that will feature updated, faster, more flexible software enabling future enhancements and a more inviting graphic user interface. The LC 500 also will boast Lexus’ renowned safety technology, Lexus Safety System +. Coming to Park Place Lexus Grapevine and Lexus Plano in 2017.
The Lexus NX Just Got a Lot Cooler
Driving on ice has taken on a whole new meaning for Lexus, which has crafted the world’s first set of working wheels and tires made from ice.
True to its mission of “creating amazing” and inspired by the craftsmanship that goes into every vehicle it makes, Lexus commissioned a team of ice sculpture specialists to explore how ice could be used in place of conventional alloy metal and rubber. After three months’ research, design and testing, the finished wheels were fitted to a Lexus NX for the ultimate ice drive. The car itself was deep-frozen, stored for five days at -30°C (it started first time) before being driven off down a London road.
For the Lexus commission – the first of its kind – genuine NX wheels and tires were laser scanned and replicated using computer design and numerical control techniques. The result was an unprecedented fusing of art and engineering. The addition of in-wheel LED lighting added an extra dramatic dimension to the cutting-edge contemporary styling of the NX.
Four sculptors worked for 36 hours to produce each wheel. The millimeter-perfect finish was achieved with hand-crafting, using Japanese steel chisels and shaping tools. Even the tread patterns on the tires were faithfully reproduced.
The ice was made from softened water taken from a moving flow to ensure it was perfectly clear when taken from the freezer. Acrylic inserts were added to ensure the wheels could take the load of the Lexus NX.
“Creating Amazing is what Lexus is about. Projects such as our hoverboard, the origami-inspired cardboard car and now a dazzling set of fully functioning ice wheels, demonstrate how we use advanced technologies and the best craftsmanship traditions to achieve outstanding results. That’s not just for eye-catching one-off projects, but for the cars we deliver to our customers, too,” said Lexus Director, Richard Balshaw.
Take a behind the scenes look at how the ice wheels were made.
The project was undertaken by Hamilton Ice Sculptors, a London-based business established for more than 35 years with world-leading experience in producing innovative and large-scale works.
