Lexus Debuts 2016 LX 570 at Pebble Beach
Pebble Beach is notorious for its scenic golf courses, but once a year cars take over for Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance. What better stage for Lexus to introduce two of its refreshed models for 2016.
Introducing the 2016 Lexus LX 570
Lexus left barely any surface of the new LX 570 untouched in a sweeping upgrade for 2016, with only door panels carried over from 2015.
The restyled front end wears an even bolder rendition of the Lexus signature spindle grille, framed by elegant satin chrome trim and complemented by distinctive new standard LED headlights, turn signals and fog lights. The LX 570 design makeover gives it new 20-inch split 10-spoke wheels, and new available 21-inch 10-spoke wheels. The taillights and rear bumper also get a new look.
The upgrades for 2016 go beyond skin-deep. An eight-speed automatic transmission replaces the former six-speed for enhanced performance and efficiency. New Drive Mode Select, as used in other Lexus vehicles, allows the LX 570 driver to tailor powertrain and suspension responses by using a dial on the console. The system also controls responses of the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), which continually adjusts shock absorber damping rates while driving, helping to ensure optimal comfort even as the road surface changes.
Modes include ECO, which adjusts powertrain responses and air conditioning to prioritize fuel-efficient driving; COMFORT mode optimizes AVS damping to help deliver the smoothest ride possible; SPORT S mode dials up powertrain response and dials down power steering assist to yield a sportier driving feel, and, to that, SPORT S+ mode adds firmer damping control from AVS to prioritize handling agility.
The 5.7-liter V8 engine produces 383 horsepower and delivers 90-percent of its 403 lb.-ft. peak torque at just 3,600 rpm, coupled with a 7,000-pound towing capacity,
A new standard feature for 2016, the panoramic view camera is an invaluable aid when hitching and maneuvering a trailer, viewing the surround terrain when off-roading, and helping view the area around the vehicle (sides, front and rear) when maneuvering tight spaces.
The new, larger 12.3-inch navigation screen can show several view combinations (panoramic/driver’s side, panoramic/passenger’s side, panoramic/rear, panoramic/front, side/side, rear, front/side/side, under floor/side/side, rear/side/side) to help aid the driver.
The LX also adds standard several safety features, new multimedia with Remote Touch Interface and substantial dual screens for the available Rear Seat Entertainment System to help captivate passengers.
The 2016 Lexus LX 570 is coming to a Park Place Lexus showroom in Grapevine and Plano by the end of the year.

Jaguar F-Pace: Pushed to the Extreme
From the searing heat and dust of Dubai to the ice and snow of Northern Sweden, the new Jaguar F-PACE has been thoroughly tested to the limit in some of the most inhospitable environments on earth.
As the first performance crossover from Jaguar, the F-PACE offers an unrivalled blend of performance, design and practicality. To ensure that every system functions perfectly under the most extreme conditions, the new F-PACE has been subjected to one of the most demanding test programs the company has ever devised.
“We developed the F-PACE to offer the ride, handling and refinement demanded from a Jaguar car, together with new levels of ability and composure on a variety of surfaces and weather conditions. Just as we paid obsessive attention to detail over the engineering of every single component, we’ve exhaustively tested the F-PACE in the most challenging conditions to ensure that it will exceed the expectations of our customers around the world,” said, Andrew Whyman, Vehicle Program Director, Jaguar F-PACE.
At the Jaguar Land Rover test facility in Arjeplog, Northern Sweden, average winter temperatures rarely exceed 5°F (-15°C) and often plummet to -40°F (-40°C). In Dubai, ambient temperatures can exceed 122°F (50°C) in the shade.
Incorporating hot and cold weather testing environments with a variety of new and unique surfaces, Jaguar has paid special attention to help make the F-PACE a benchmark in the performance crossover segment. For the first time in a Jaguar development program, the F-PACE has also been driven over graveled mountain passes as part of its validation tests. Following this testing and development, the F-PACE will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Coming to Jaguar Dallas and Jaguar Plano showrooms in mid 2016.

Awards Keep Coming for the 2016 Volvo XC90
The Volvo XC90 has been named Car of the Year 2015 and Large SUV of the Year at this year’s Auto Express New Car Awards.
Volvo Cars’ award-winning XC90 is already close to selling out its entire first year’s planned production run of 50,000 cars. To date over 44,000 cars have been ordered.
“This award reflects the great passion that Volvo Cars puts into its new cars. We understand our customers’ desire to have beautiful cars – cars that make their lives easier by delivering the latest technology – but in a user-friendly manner. We also understand the driving need for powertrains that deliver efficient performance, and a chassis that provides a balanced and engaging driving experience,” said Dr Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President Research & Development at Volvo Car Group, accepting the award.
Steve Fowler, Editor-in-Chief of Auto Express, said: “We’ve been waiting a long time for the XC90, but it was well worth the wait – it’s a sensational SUV. It not only sets new standards for Volvo, but for the car market in general, leading in terms of technology, efficiency, style and safety. It’s also got an element of style – inside and out – that you might not have expected. If the XC90 points the way for the future of Volvo, the future looks very bright indeed.”
A blend of rich Scandinavian design elements, both inside and out, makes the XC90 stand out from the crowd. Delivering a commanding road presence with the distinct ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlights and larger grille, the XC90’s powerful exterior design makes a strong, yet subtle statement.
The interior’s crowning glory is the in-car control system, Sensus. This intuitive system controls all the major functions of the vehicle, from the infotainment, phone, navigation and connectivity features. The interior is the epitome of Scandinavian design, a serene and relaxing environment, combining the finest natural materials available such a leather and wood, and at the same time being a practical seven-seat SUV.

Volvo XC90 Excellence Child Safety Seat Concept
Volvo Cars’ design team has completely re-imagined how children could travel safely in cars in the future. The move follows the Shanghai reveal of the XC90 Excellence and the Lounge Console Concept, which marked a bold and luxurious step forward for the Swedish car brand.
“We started by asking ourselves if we could make life easier for parents and safer for their children when it comes to the child seat experience. We focused on three key benefits – making it easier to get the child into and out of the child seat from an ergonomic and comfort perspective, providing the child with a safe rearward facing seating position that enables it to keep eye-contact with either the driver or the rear passenger and of course including enough storage for those vital child accessories, such as diapers, bottles, wipes, and so on,” said Tisha Johnson, Chief Designer Interiors at Volvo Cars Concept and Monitoring Centre.
The concept enables the parent to swivel the seat counter-clockwise when seating the child and then lock the seat in a rearward facing position. The concept also provides storage for small items beside the seat and a storage space underneath for diapers, blankets, or other larger items and enough space for a tote bag at the front of the seat under the dashboard.
“For us the safety, convenience, and emotional factors outweigh everything else. Being able to maintain eye contact with your child from the rear seat , or being able to keep a bottle warm in the heated cup holders in the XC90 Excellence, would go a long way towards making life easier for parents taking their small child on a trip. Such alternative seating arrangements will become increasingly important as we move towards autonomous vehicles,” added Tisha Johnson.
